How to route cables cleanly behind a floating shelf on a plasterboard wall

When installing a TV mounting setup with a floating shelf on a plasterboard wall, it’s crucial to ensure the cables are routed neatly and securely. This guide provides a step-by-step approach to achieve a clean and professional-looking result.

Materials Required

Before starting your project, gather the following materials:

• Cable organizer or cable raceway
• Velcro strips for cable management
• Cable ties (small and medium)
• Drill with appropriate bits

Step 1: Choose the Right Cable Organizer

Select a cable organizer or raceway that matches the length of your floating shelf. Ensure it is compatible with plasterboard walls and can be securely attached to the wall.

Step 2: Mark and Pre-drill Holes

Decide where you want to mount the cable organizer on the wall. Use a pencil to mark the positions for drilling. Pre-drilling holes ensures that the installer avoids damaging the plasterboard while allowing for adjustments if needed.

Step 3: Attach the Cable Organizer

Using the appropriate screws and drill bits, attach the cable organizer to the marked locations on the wall. Ensure the organizer is level and secure.

Step 4: Run the Cables

Feed your TV cables through the floating shelf and into the cable organizer behind it. Use small cable ties to bundle and organize the cables as needed.

Step 5: Secure Excess Cable Lengths
